Link to unread posts on index and viewforum?
Hello!
Upon updating to 3.0.8 recently we lost something very useful. We used to links from index, viewforum, and search straight to the latest unread message of a gicen topic, but now we are only able to go to the last post. That sucketh. Does anyone know how to fix that?
Thanks

Was it a MOD doing that for you? IF so, contact the MOD author.
You should never do an update this big on a live forum. IT's best to do a localhost update to see how things turn out?
Do you have a backup of all the files and the sql database? That'd probably be the best thing to do is restsore it all to what you have before then do a dry run on localhost. Somebody else may have a better idea.

Well, it's not that big of a deal that a restore is needed. This is not related to MODs. Last time (2.xx -> 3.0) we had to manually do those changes as they aren't defaults on all pages where we want them. I just can't reach those guys now 8everybody's so busy nowadays).
But thanks, though!

Re: Link to unread posts on index and viewforum?
could you elaborate a little as to which links you are talking about? are you talking about the little arrow that would take you to the latest unread post?
Re: Link to unread posts on index and viewforum?
Hi!
Yup, that arrow, and we would also like to make the post name and the date links to first unread post. How is this done?

Re: Link to unread posts on index and viewforum?
if you upgraded and you lost that arrow, then you didn't really upload all the files probably!
Re: Link to unread posts on index and viewforum?
No, the arrow is still there What I mean is that we would like to make the post name and date links to first unread post in a givem topic. This can be done (we used to have it like that prior to this latest update), but I just don't know how. My knowledge oh php (or any other programming language) is zero. It would be nice if someone here could tell us what lines in what files should be modified and how
Re: Link to unread posts on index and viewforum?
i also moved the topic since it looked like you posted it in the wrong forum!
i will look into this tomorrow, and post something I have been kind of busy as of late!

No bother. We all make the same mistake. Besides, it was my fault for not catching it on an approval. That's why Cisco is paid the big bucks. And I apologize for posting in the wrong forum. I'll try to be more careful next time.

Re: Link to unread posts on index and viewforum?
i haven't had a chance to check this! did I ask you if this was a mod you had installed before the update? you kind of said yes, but kind of no!
do you have any backups of those files, before the updates so i can sort of look at them?
since you say you had to manually make those changes to where you wanted them before!
I know it has something to do with replacing some of the code and adding this!
